Baby Proofing 101

For those of you who have been to our home you know 1) we enjoy decorating, cleanliness and a minimalist style and 2) with a house full of mission furniture, glass tables, and many stairs, we don't have the most "child friendly" home on the block.

You all said it would happen. You warned us. Some of you even laughed. And so here it is...our status update for week one of baby proofing.

Remove and/or raise all living room accessories, glass balls, candles and seasonal decor = Check

Put up ugly and cumberson baby gate in entryway so that you can navigate that 25 times a day for the next year = Check

Remove glass coffee table toppers = Check

Now that the glass coffee table toppers have been removed, remove the entire coffee table since Lauren just pulled it over on herself = Check

Take all of Bryon's ficus tree plants outside after Lauren tries to eat the potting soil = Check

Barricade off all heating and cooling vents as Lauren tries to input her body into the chute = Check

Ensure all drawers, cabinets, and doors are secured so that even Sydney can't get into them = Check

Increase the amount of cat food purchased since Lauren seems to have an appetite for it = Check

Sit back, relax and laugh at the fact that "Baby Proofing Round 2" is right around the corner!

May 24th. The Perfect Day

Eight years ago today I married my wonderful husband.

One year ago today we received the offical word that we were about to become parents to a beautiful baby girl.

One marriage, one new family and one wonderful and wild journey to share. Bliss!

Lauren and Sydney headed to Washington D.C. for Mother's Day to see Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Jerry. We had the most wonderful vacation and Lauren was a huge hit in the capital city.

Grab your hats (and snacks). It's time to watch the Kentucky Derby with Grandpa.

The perfect Spring dress for a perfect Mother's Day. All because of Grandma Kathy.

Mother's Day Brunch

Lauren finally got to meet her Uncle Byron. So in love!

Lauren also got to meet the scary yard art boy.

Play time in the grass.

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for loving us like you do...

From a mother to her daughter

Lauren,

I woke up on our first Mother's Day together with a joy unlike any I've ever known. I have waited so long to be a Mother and yet I would have waited another hundred years had I known it would bring me to you.

I will never know what I did to deserve you and thank God for every day that I get to call you my daughter.

May you always know how loved you are and what a huge blessing you are to our family.

Thank you for being you and for letting "me" be a part of your life.

Love, Your Mom

Ten Months Old

I'm ten months old! Oh how I've grown in just one short month.

I have four new teeth - All the better to bite you with

I can pull up - Better get rid of the pretty home decor and candlelight

I can army crawl my way to most anything - Can you say "baby gates"?

I'm eating big girl food - Watch your plates

I know how to scream whenever you leave the room - Guilt, guilt, guilt

And I have all of the curiosity and determination of a ten month old baby girl on a mission - Watch out world here I come!
